mY BACKHOE QUIT OPERATING TODAY AND I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME FIND THE PROBLEM. tHE PTO PUMP SEEMS TO BE PUMPING BUT WHEN OPERATING THE CONTROLS i GET A HISSING NOISE AND NO MOVEMENT OF THE HOE. FLUIDS ARE AT THE PROPER LEVEL AND THE CYLINDERS WILL MOVE SLIGHTLY IN EITHER DIRECTION AND THEN QUIT. aLL i GET IS A HISSING NOISE AROUND THE CONTROLS.. NOTHING WILL MOVE IE...THE OUT-RIGGERS, BUCKET NOR THE TWO CYLINDERS WILL MOVE. oNCE i LOCATE THE PROBLEM CAN THE PUMP AND OR THE CONTROL BOX BE REBUILT AND IF SO HOW EXPENSIVE CAN THIS GET.... tHANKS FOR YOUR HELP

It sounds like you may have a pressure relief valve that is stuck open. There is a spring loaded valve that opens to allows the oil to return to the tank when a set pressure is reached. A piece of trash in the valve or a broken spring can cause the valve to stay open all the time. The relief is often on one end of the bank of control valves. Most often there is a cap over the spring that can be removed (with the pump stopped). You should be able to check the spring and look in to see the valve seat.good Luck ....

This may sound funny but make sure you have your PTO in the engaged position, ....
